My experience with the On-the-Job Training Program at Toray Plastics was enlightening and fun. Along with the patience of teaching me new tasks, everyone was very friendly. The job was challenging at first because of the amount of information taken in. I now enjoy coming into work and enjoy the time I spend with my coworkers! Toray is a great place to work and I am grateful for this opportunity.

Thank you Jessica, for sharing your OJT success story!

I can’t thank the Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island enough for all their guidance and support. After being unemployed for several months, the Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island was such a great resource! I was assigned my very own Program Analyst who walked me through their On-the-Job Training program, step by step. Their support was just what I needed as I started my new job. Just knowing I was getting the appropriate training and guidance made my transition into new my position all that much easier.

I highly support and recommend this program to everyone in search of reaching their career goals. Their resources are unsurpassed!

Thank you Kristen, for sharing your OJT success story!

I feel that Signarama is a great fit for me. I had been designing for a factory in the city
but the job wasn't what I had expected. Being unemployed for over 6 months was tough
and finding a new job was very important to me. OJT helped me learn Quick Books and
accounting to bill customers. I am using my degree in Graphic Design by helping to
create projects for local customers and businesses in my hometown, which has been very
rewarding to me. Getting to see my work all over the state is the best part of my job. I
am happy to be part of a team that strives in customer satisfaction and quality
craftsmanship.

Thank you Bryson, for sharing your OJT success story!

I would like to take this time to tell you how the On-the-Job Training Program has changed my life.

Before the OJT Program, I worked on my family’s local dairy farm in Westerly, RI. On the farm, I milked cows, ran farm equipment, worked the fields to prepare to grow corn and hay for the upcoming season. I also did many other farm related jobs such including everything from caring for sick cattle and to repairing broken farm equipment. My work day would start at 4:30 am and sometimes not end until late in the evening.

After being hired at Interplex Engineered Products in the early fall of 2014, I have learned many new valuable skills and made some new friends along the way. Over the past months, they have taught me how to use a microscope and X-acto knife which I use for the inspection and de-flashing process of our TRW Vacuum Housing Sensor program.

I have also learned the inspection and leak testing process of the TRW covers that are assembled to the Vacuum Housing Senors. I have been taught how to use the computers and log daily work. In the years to come, I am hoping to learn many more valuable skills to grow with the company.

Without the OJT program and Interplex, I wouldn’t be where I am today. They have helped me grow as a person. Thank you OJT and Interplex for giving me this opportunity.

Thank you Silvia, for sharing your OJT success story!

In these tough economic times, it can be difficult to gain meaningful employment. Through the Workforce Partnership of Greater RI, I was placed in a fast growing, family owned business.

Their employees worked closely with me to ensure that I had all the necessary tools to succeed. The on the job training I received has now led to a permanent position, and a great career with ample room for growth.

Thank you Steven, for sharing your OJT success story!

Many factors are typically involved in landing the right job. Sure, I thought I had the proper skill sets to bring value to an employer to the point they wanted to include me in their future, but even “corporate America” has its specialty areas of focus.

After interviewing with Interplex Engineered Products (a different industry than what I had spent some 29 years in, with processes, technologies and customers I hadn’t yet developed expertise in) they introduced me to the program and opportunities at netWORKri relative to the On-the-Job Training Program. I quickly learned that this program was aimed at affording both myself and Interplex a means to close the gap and show a path to making me a member of the senior leadership team!

After less than a year I am building a stronger team within my organization, and my two recent additions are also participants in the OJT program. Speaking from experience, I can tell you that this is a great program, orchestrated by dedicated people who work hard every day to help people get back to work, providing them with the necessary training opportunities to add value to their new employer. Who knew that the state even offered such a great program? Employers who want to recruit the right talent, that’s who!

Thank you to the team at netWORKri and the Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island, and please don’t stop the program……there are still more qualified people who need that little extra help to land the right job.

With appreciation,

Bill Tigano

Due to our custom business, it’s very difficult to find candidates that have all the skills required for our jobs. OJT has given us the opportunity to hire candidates who have the ability to “learn.”

When trained by our current staff, trainees get to learn our processes and become very valuable employees. The funds we receive assist with the slow “on boarding” process of hiring new employees and the reduction in output.”

In March 2013, after much searching, I very thankfully landed myself a great job with TRICO Specialty Films. The day of my last interview I was informed by my new employer, that they were involved with the On-the-Job Training program. They explained to me that they would be sending my information over to the Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island for the OJT Program, and that someone from the program would be in contact soon. To be completely honest I just wanted to get to work, and was not looking forward to having to wait.

Fortunately, to my surprise, I was contacted quickly by a counselor from the netWORKri office.  From the start, the counselor was very nice and also very accommodating, as I had many scheduling issues.

No more than a week later I was in netWORKri, in West Warwick, going through a short interview and then a quick computerized aptitude test. Both went very well, and I was good to go. I would also like to add that I have recommended to a number of individuals, that they should use all of the great resources available at netWORKri. I truly believe that the help I received at netWORKri had a direct affect on finding my present job, and I am forever thankful.

Fast foreword to today, I’m now the individual doing the interviewing and hiring for TRICO. As often as possible, I try to get all of those I hire through the On-the-Job Training program. Our office manager, Kathleen Abrahamson, to date, has had nothing but great experiences in dealing with all of the OJT staff, and I also have found all of my experiences to be pleasing. The individuals who work for OJT Program  are professional, courteous, and very accommodating. Not only is the program financially beneficial to the company hiring, but the staff at OJT is a great help in making sure that we are employing the right individuals.

I would highly recommend the OJT program to any employer actively recruiting new hires.

Sincerely,
Daniel J. Martineau

Thank you Daniel, for the wonderful testimony on the success of On-the-Job Training!

I’d like to share a success story with the Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island’s OJT program. In April, 2013, I sold my interest in a company I had helped found, thinking I could take a few months off and then find myself a good job. How hard could that be, right? Well let me tell you, a 50-year-old man in today’s employment climate is not as marketable as you might think!

I spent months pounding the pavement, burning up the telephone lines, calling all my old contacts and watching the commas and then decimal points disappear from my savings account. My optimism faded to depression and then descended into despair. I began to fear that I’d be joining next season’s crew on Deadliest Catch, and a gig on Ice Road Trucker started looking attractive. But before I submitted my application to World’s Dirtiest Jobs, I met David, the owner of Top Line Systems, a superior Rhode Island B2B sales company for which I was a perfect fit.

Although we both felt that I was right for the position, taking a chance on an over-the-hill, unemployed salesman was a little too rich for David’s blood. When all hope seemed lost, OJT stepped in and offered to cover half my salary during my three month training period. This allowed David to hire me without breaking the bank and I stopped looking longingly at the Army recruiting posters!  I am now gainfully employed and the oil shale fields of North Dakota will simply have to do without me. Thank you Workforce Partnership of Greater RI for your OJT program!

Thank you Brian, for the wonderful testimony on the success of On-the-Job Training!

The services of the Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island and netWORKri have been a blessing to me. The On-the-Job Training Program has provided me with hands-on experience, practical knowledge, and confidence needed to become a valuable employee. I not only grew professionally, but also developed skills in my field to help me pursue a successful, rewarding career. The Workforce Partnership of Greater Rhode Island staff demonstrated a true commitment to my success.
